PostHeaderIcon Q&A: How can I prevent mice from coming into my home?

Question by Justin: How can I prevent mice from coming into my home?
I just saw a dead mouse in my kitchen. I was about to throw up. Finally, I decided to dispose of the little critter outside away from my home.

I used D-Con in my kitchen because this mouse has been in my house for at least 5 days or so. Anyways, the D-Con isn’t finished yet, so I’m going to continue using them in case there are other mice floating around including their babies.

So, now how can I prevent mice from coming in? It must be crazy trying to find out where they’re coming from (obviously holes but where are they) like to trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I will continue to use the D-Con because it does kill the mice, but can I use D-con or mothballs outside my home? I want to spread them all around outside my house. Will this work? I don’t have a cat, and I have no desire for it. Thanks.

Question by Troika In Flames: How long does the AIDS virus live in a sharp’s container?
My friend was stuck with a needle while helping another friend’s husband at home. He is 65 years old, and a stroke and diabetic patient. My friend was helping dispose of some old home sharps containers (like 1 to 2 months old) and a needle fell out and stuck her in her thumb.

I’m wanting to know how likely it is that my friend could get anything from a needle this old. She has had Hep B vaccine.

Thanks for any constructive help in advance. :D

if you’re a manager of a food establishment, how will you organize the solid & liquid waste disposal of your establishment?

Solid waste disposal such as food can be given to a pig farmer(as I have seen done). Regular trash such as paper, plastic ,etc should be sorted and recycled. Liquid ,mainly cooking oils need to be stored. This way they can be picked up by a company that reuses/recycles old cooking oil. That is an eco-friendly way of organizing your waste.

I have to give my husband sub q injections every day and I have been asking around how to dispose of the syringes. The only answer I have gotten is to collect them in a detergent bottle and throw them out in the regular trash.

I brought a red disposal unit from work home, when I needed to give my mom injections, and brought it back when it was full. Sometimes working in a small place helps…take advantage of it!
